Whale Like Me
Short Film Contest

New media downloads area: whale and dolphin media for use in your short films

Monday March 12th 2012

No whales or dolphins on hand to feature in your short films?  No worries.  Take a look at the library of clips we've prepared for you to use!

You must limit your use to a maximum of 12 seconds of this footage: we want your films to be mostly original content, or they will start to all look the same!

These clips are been provided by Quiet Heart Film and the Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society - granting you a non-exclusive license to use them in your short films for submission to this contest only.  After registering, you will receive access to download the high resolution clips.

Submission deadline now Friday February 20th, 2013

Monday March 12th 2012

Principal photography on the feature documentary Whale Like Me has almost wrapped!  However the adventurous nature of some of the shoots caused delays, and we've decided to push back the submission deadline for your short films to February 20th, 2013.  This allows the release of the feature documentary to inform and inspire you before you participate in the contest!

Got camera, can film!

Thursday June 2nd 2011

Whale Like Me and WDCS, Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society are proud to announce that we have joined forces to bring the Whale Like Me Short Film Contest to you.

WDCS focuses its work entirely on the protection of whales and dolphins, and has programmes operating around the world. We are excited about our work together, both in promoting the contest and making sure your films are distributed to have the most impact on evolving our relationship with cetaceans.

To your cameras everyone! First prize: return airfare for 2 to New Zealand, including a whale adventure with Whale Watch Kaikoura. (For a New Zealand winner, this becomes return airfare to Japan for a whale watching experience there).

Our Awards event will now take place on May 22nd, 2012 – anniversary date of the Declaration of Cetacean Rights.
